Story Plot
Elza Laine, a lower-class seller, desperate to elevate her life and escape the slums, and becomes entangled with Senior Higgins, a charismatic linguist, who teach her a Kafkaesque transformation; begins reshaping Eliza — physically and psychologically — to mold her into his vision of an ideal woman. As she changes, so does her sense of self.
