Lucy, a young American woman living in Taiwan, is tricked into delivering a mysterious briefcase to a powerful drug lord. She is subsequently kidnapped and forced to become a drug mule for a synthetic superdrug called CPH4. When the drug accidentally leaks into her system, it begins unlocking more and more of her brain’s capacity — far beyond the average 10% usage myth. As her mental and physical abilities increase, Lucy gains powers like telekinesis, instantaneous learning, and the ability to manipulate matter. However, her humanity begins to slip away as her transformation accelerates. She seeks the help of Professor Samuel Norman (played by Morgan Freeman), a scientist studying cerebral capacity, to understand what is happening to her and what she can do with her rapidly expanding capabilities. The story builds to a mind-bending climax as Lucy transcends physical form, ultimately transferring all her knowledge into a supercomputer before vanishing into the fabric of time and space.
