Amiyah is about to experience her first day of high. The book describes her morning; as she wakes up and gets ready for school, has breakfast with their family, and meets her best friend Cameron at school. Throughout the day, Amiyah interacts with various students, including Asher. Later, Cameron forgets to meet Amiyah at the water fountain, and Aubrey tells Amiyah that Cameron was with Trevor, a mean, popular guy at school. As the story goes on, Amiyah learns to navigate her way through high school with the many challenges and problems that come with it.
