In a world where evil forces are gathering to destroy all that is good, four young hobbits are entrusted with a dangerous mission: to carry the One Ring, a powerful artifact that can corrupt anyone who wears it, to the land of Mordor and destroy it in the fires of Mount Doom. Along the way, they are aided by a mysterious wizard, a brave ranger, a loyal dwarf, an elegant elf and a courageous king. But they also face many perils, from the treacherous Gollum, who covets the Ring, to the dark lord Sauron, who commands a vast army of orcs and other creatures. Will they succeed in their quest and save Middle-earth from tyranny?
The movie is directed by Stanley Kubrick, who brings his visionary style and meticulous attention to detail to the epic fantasy genre. The soundtrack features original songs by The Beatles.
