In 19th century France, in the midst of the French Revolution, a convict named Jean Valjean is released from prison on parole. He is bitter and jaded, but upon meeting a kind bishop, he commits his soul to God and devotes himself to living a good life. He breaks parole and makes a new life for himself, but is now being hunted by his parole officer, Javert. Jean Valjean meets Fantine, a young, dying woman with no means to pay for her child, Cosette. After Fantine's death, Jean Valjean rescues Cosette from the abusive Thenardiers, and she becomes the light of his life. Description of Thenardier:

The true villain of the story, the embodiment of evil and wickedness. Also serves as the comedic relief. He is Cosette's former caretaker, and abused her heavily. He lives by committing crimes on the street with his wife and gang, but ultimately makes it out on top, a cynical commentary on the nature of society. Age: early to mid 40s. Vocal range top: G4 Vocal range bottom: C2
