Story Plot

Legionnaire: Legends Never Die is a 2026 American epic science fiction action film written, co-produced, and directed by Neill Blomkamp. It is a direct sequel to Attack of Shadows and is the fifth and final installment in the Galaxy's Edge film series, as well as the only film in the series not to be based on a book by Jason Anspach and Nick Cole, but features a story conceived by the two writers. The film stars Vin Diesel, Liv Tyler, James Marsden, Jordana Brewster, Colin Farrell, Lucas Black, Peter Weller, Tyrese Gibson, Naomie Harris and Tika Sumpter. Legends Never Die premiered in Los Angeles on December 18th, 2026, and was released 5 days later; it was the first film in the series since the first and second films to receive critical acclaim, with praise for uniting the original and new casts, as well as the action sequences, visual effects, darker tone, direction, story, and the film's emotional weight. It also grossed over $2.291 billion worldwide and became the highest grossing film in the series. The film became the best reviewed Galaxy's Edge film, and is considered the fitting end to the series.

  • Plot: One year after Goth Sullus killed a notorious criminal, Lord Gaston is murdered and replaced by Sullus as grandmaster of the Legion. Captain Cohen Chhun reluctantly goes on a mission under the authority of Sullus, alongside Bryla, her brother Craig, Chhun's sister Aliyah, and Graham Alvarez. They discover that they were actually set up, and realize that they are back on the planet where they first met.
  • On commander Kara Jones' orders, Chhun and the squad go rogue against the Legion. Harold Lane is promoted Sullus' second-in-command and orders legionnaire soldiers to eliminate Chhun. The squad escapes the desolate planet and fight off the legionnaires. Meanwhile, Kara's sister, Leah, discovers Sullus' true intentions and learns that he was the one who killed Gaston and that he betrayed Chhun.
  • Leah and Kara confront Sullus, who admits that he did in fact kill Gaston and betray Chhun, and orders the sisters to be arrested. Lane eventually defies Sullus' orders and frees Leah and Kara, but Sullus learns of this and kills him. The two retreat and reunite with Chhun and the squad. The escape to one of the planets owned by the Legion to destroy one of their headquarters. They succeed, but Alvarez decides to stay and sacrifices himself to allow the others to escape.
  • Chhun decides to face Sullus head-on, while the squad distracts the legionnaires and explodes their stations. Leah and Craig are killed, but not before exploding the communications center. Bryla almost dies, but Chhun saves her before going to Sullus' ship.
  • Sullus orders the planet to be destroyed, but Chhun prevents it, and confronts Sullus before they both engage in a final fight. Bryla and Kara hijack a dropship, but it lacks fuel. Craig, having survived the ambush after blowing the communications center, fuels the dropship and heals his injuries.
  • Chhun gains the upper hand at first, until Sullus overpowers and fatally stabs Chhun through his right lung. However, the tables turn when Chhun overpowers Sullus, and Chhun impales Sullus with a spear, killing him. Chhun succumbs to his wounds and dies in Bryla's arms, but not before telling her to keep evading the Legion, knowing that they will never be the same again.
  • In the aftermath, the surviving squad mourn for Chhun's death, but also honor him after Craig states that "It's what he would want". Bryla agrees, and flies the ship towards an unknown destination as the end credits roll.
