Born in Russia in 1945 to Anton Dreykov and Kathryn Kentrova, Maria was trained from an early age as an Assassin for Soviet Russia. After being made to watch, her mother is murdered by her father, Maria swears to hold onto her heart, even as she is given the Soviet's variant of the Super Soldier Serum, becoming the First Black Widow. During the 70s, she has numerous run-ins with Britain's own super soldier, John Carter aka Captain Britain who she later falls in love with and defects from the Soviets.
