In 1998, Claire Redfield returns to Raccoon City to warn her estranged brother Chris that the Umbrella Corporation has poisoned the town. After a truck accident unleashes the outbreak, Claire teams with rookie cop Leon Kennedy as zombies overrun the city. Meanwhile, Chris, Jill Valentine, and Albert Wesker investigate the Spencer Mansion, where Wesker's betrayal and Umbrella's experiments—including the tragic Lisa Trevor—are revealed. Survivors converge on an underground lab, where William Birkin mutates into a monster. They escape by train as Raccoon City is destroyed, vowing to expose Umbrella.
