  • JCS is one of my favorite musicals. This is a very interesting cast list. I love the casting of Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene and Pilate. What made you pick the other choices?
  • @castingsinmyblood You know what? I like it
  • @pumpkinchowcorg my main question for this cast was "who can sing?" So, That pretty much narrowed down my choices. And since I wanted to do a spectacle as opposed to an "accurate" version, I was allowed to cast people I felt would make a good movie rather than if they looked like artistic depictions of the characters.
  • @pumpkinchowcorg as for the crew, I felt that JCS done as a huge Bollywood-style spectacle, a kind of "Moulin Rouge meets the Ten Commandments" asthetic could only be done by one man: Baz Luhrman. and only then with the help of his beloved Catherine Martin. Elliot Goldenthal is just classic enough but avant garde enough to make the orchestral score memorable. Luhrman's regular collaborators did the rest.

  • Going back to this. Even though Baz would be an amazing choice for this movie... what do you think of a JCS movie directed by Julie Taymor?
  • @pumpkinchowcorg she could do it. She’d probably bring Rodrigo Prieto and Elliot Goldenthal into the mix with her. And while she’s not perfect for *my* JCS that doesn’t mean she isn’t perfect for another version. Like an avant-garde all girls version. That would be cool
  • @castingsinmyblood I kinda like that idea, you wanna do another collab on that? I mean, an all-female JCS has happened and worked before
  • Wait... why is Man Drinking Milk in this one too?
  • What do you think of Austin Butler as Judas?
  • @pumpkinchowcorg I think it ain't gonna be no nostalgia show. His Judas is gonna be... different
