Robert Lawrence Stine, sometimes known as Jovial Bob Stine and Eric Affabee, is an American novelist, short story writer, television producer, screenwriter, and executive editor. He is also the fictional character and the overarching protagonist of Columbia Pictures' live-action/animated Goosebumps film duology. R.L. Stine is portrayed by Jack Black, who also voiced Slappy the Dummy and the Invisible Boy in the first film. Black also portrays Dewey Finn from School of Rock, the title character from Nacho Libre, Lemuel Gulliver from Gulliver's Travels, Professor Shelly Oberon from the Jumanji films, Jables from Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny, Jonathan Barnavelt from The House with a Clock in its Walls, Steve from A Minecraft Movie, and Doug McCallister from Anaconda. As a bonus, he voices Lenny from Shark Tale, Po from the Kung Fu Panda franchise, Eddie Riggs from Brütal Legend, and Claptrap from Borderlands.

Based on the autobiography book of the same name, this tells the story of Robert Lawrence (R.L.) Stine, who grew up in Columbus, Ohio. He liked to tell scary stories to his brother and always end in cliffhangers. After graduating college, he wrote his first novel, which didn't sell great, but he got to write more comedic stuff, which got him a job as head writer for "Eureeka's Castle" on Nick Jr. After that, he wrote his first young-adult horror novel, "Blind Date." After that he wrote the "Fear Street" series, and eventually, "GOOSEBUMPS!" To this day, R.L. Stine is STILL writing scary stories for children.
