"Iliad 21" reimagines the epic tales of Homer’s Iliad in the vibrant and tumultuous landscape of early 21st-century society. Set against the backdrop of a contemporary world grappling with issues of identity, loyalty, and conflict, the series follows Achilles Carter and Helen Johnson, two young adults of African descent navigating their lives amidst a modern-day equivalent of the Trojan War. Achilles, a talented and fiercely competitive athlete, is the star player on his college football team. Known for his unmatched skills and fiery temperament, he is both revered and feared by his peers. Helen, a brilliant and ambitious art student, finds herself caught in a web of social intrigue when she becomes the object of desire for two rival factions at their university: Achilles’ team and a rival school’s elite group. When Helen’s relationship with Achilles ignites a fierce rivalry between the two factions, tensions escalate, leading to a series of confrontations that mirror the epic battles of the original Iliad. As the conflict intensifies, Achilles must confront his own pride and anger, while Helen grapples with her feelings of loyalty and love amidst the chaos.
