Quan Chi (Chinese: 拳痴) is a character in the Mortal Kombat series. A demon of the Netherrealm known for his dark magic and necromancy, Quan Chi is a powerful enemy to both Earthrealm and Outworld, and a major ally to the Fallen Elder God Shinnok. He serves as a major antagonist to the franchise, often serving as the secondary antagonist of the franchise alongside Shang Tsung.
Quan Chi made his debut in the animated series, Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm while his first video game appearance was in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero in which he served as a secondary antagonist and sub-boss, a role he reprises in many games after. He serves as the titular antagonist of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance alongside Shang Tsung.
Quan Chi made his playable debut in Mortal Kombat 4 in which he served as the secondary antagonist. Quan Chi would return in Mortal Kombat (2011), serving as a secondary antagonist in the game's Story Mode alongside Shang Tsung. He returns in Mortal Kombat X, once again serving as the secondary antagonist of the game's Story Mode.
A new version of Quan Chi appears in Mortal Kombat 1 as an antagonist in the game's Story Mode as well as being the second playable character via DLC as part of the Kombat Pack.
