A senior from Masaki's boxing club days during high school. He had decent talent, reaching the top eight in the Inter-High qualifiers, but gradually lost his position due to Masaki's overwhelming talent gap, and he was the ringleader who called in classmates and acquaintances of delinquents to lynch Masaki. Furthermore, he mutters that all the club members know about Masaki's begging for his life during sparring, instilling a strong sense of inferiority in Masaki. However, one day, Masaki, determined to take revenge, appears before him and challenges him to a fight, but Watanabe was defeated.
