In 16th-century Scotland, the warrior Connor MacLeod mysteriously survives a fatal blow during a clash and is exiled by his own people, who believe he has been possessed by demons. Connor discovers, through the mysterious Juan Sanchez-Villalobos Ramirez, that he belongs to a race of immortal warriors who can only be killed by decapitation and are engaged in a game requiring them to fight to the death for a prize awarded to the last one standing. Ramirez teaches him to live and fight as an immortal, and now, living in 21st-century New York, Connor must face an immortal barbarian who is gathering followers for a nefarious purpose.
