Gus Hall (Cherry Township, 1910 - New York City, 2000) was the General Secretary of the Communist Party and perennial candidate for president of the United States. This film follows his personal life, his first years as a communist and trade unionist, his leadership with the Communist Party and the Party's intersection with the Civil Rights Movement, McCarthyism, politics of the Soviet Union and LGBT rights.
