Story Plot

When Hal Jordan finds the ring of an alien pilot, he gains the powers of the Green Lantern, an intergalactic police force with the goal of spreading hope and willpower. Hal and his squadron in Sector 2814 have been tasked with taking on the dictator Bito Waldron and keep him from reawakening the entity known as Parallax.

There are 2 lanter squadrons here, the first is sent out but all but one of their members is killed (that member who survives being Kilowog) and the guardians send the other team out to finish what the first started, much like The Suicide Squad (2021)
