Synopsis

The film introduces Hal Jordan, an experienced retired US Air Force pilot who lives on the planet OA and is responsible for training new recruits for the Green Lanterns, a police force that uses an energy ring and its willpower to protect the galaxy. . Jordan is responsible for training John Stewart an architect a new recruit of the Corps, they will have to stop Atrocitus leader of the Red Lantern Corps, who seeks revenge against the Guardians of the Universe, many secrets will be revealed, including a dark secret of Hal Jordan. Contains 3 post-credits scenes

  • otsutsuki 1º Act- The film begins with the narration of Abin Sur who introduces us that thousands of years ago the Guardians of the Universe created the Manhunters the first galactic police force, but for some unknown reason this attempt was a failure and they were forgotten, and the Guardians of the Universe realized that they were able to harness the powers of these beings they created a weapon that should be moved by Willpower and the entity Ion became the guardian of the Green Lantern Corps, and that after that there were several troops each Emotional Spectrum is divided into the seven colors of the rainbow, each of which represents an emotion, so we have Red: Anger, Orange: Avarice, Yellow: Fear, Green: Willpower, Violet: Love, Blue: Hope, Indigo: Compassion and The absence of Black, who represents Death, and that the Green Lantern Corps use their powers to bring peace to the Galaxy, we cut to Earth but specifically to Detroit where we see a fight between Javelin and John Stewart, Javelin tries to use god darts on John who defeats him easily, Emilia Harcout arrives at the scene and thanks John for capturing Javelin who curses him in German and John answers him with a joke, he asks where they took Javelin and Harcout replies Belle Reeve, John returns home and recharges his ring, reads a message from his brother Damon telling him to show up there and sees his nephews, in space Hal Jordan, C'ph, Kilowog, Tomar-Re and G'nort are on a mission on the planet Maltus fighting against the Psions Race, the dominant race on the planet that has a reptilian appearance, the group has a little difficulty but manages to fulfill their mission, Kilowog jokes that Jordan is already a little slow maybe it's because he's been in the troop for a while 20 Years old, Jordan retorts saying that he saw the punch that Kilowog took in the battle, and everyone starts laughing, Jordan says that he will call Stewart to OA to finish his training and Kilowog says that he will do the same with Arisia, on earth we follow John's work day as an architect, we see that John is a kind man with a huge heart who puts the well-being of others above his own, later he is summoned to OA and recharges his ring and leaves for the planet , getting there he finds Arisia and Kilowog he starts their training along with Tomar-Re and C'hp they start a combat where the veterans create a light from a black hole that sucks Arisia and John but they manage to get rid of it at the last minute, Kilowog goes into hand-to-hand combat with John, teaching him how to behave in battle, Arisia fights against the intelligent C'ph and Tomar-Re, they teach her how to improve her willpower to have her strongest constructs, meanwhile Ganthet and Sayd talk to Hal Jordan about the mission they returned to and that everything was a success, Sayd asks about the new human Lantern and Jordan says he finds him promising and that he will train him not to be afraid, he says that John may have the best con Troop tructs because he is an architect he imagines the inside of his constructs making them stronger, Ganthet says Jordan needs to rest and go back to Earth since he hasn't been back home for years, and Jordan says he will only return to Earth after fixing his past mistake, and he leaves for the training area

    • castingsinmyblood @otsutsuki this opening is kind of unfocused. Switching between earth and space was one of the things that killed the original GL movie and we don't really know who is the main character here. You might have to make a choice between either Hal or John on this one.

  • otsutsuki 2º Act- In sector 666 we are introduced to Atrocitus and his army the Red Lanterns they begin to plan their revenge against the Guardians of the Universe, Bleez comments on why Atrocitus is so quiet and he just replies that he wants everything to go according to plan, and that he has a plan for Hal Jordan, and we see a red ring in the hands of Atrocitus, in OA Hal arrives to train John, John and Hal begin to battle and John asks how Hal joined the troop, Hal begins to count and we see a flashback where we see a young Hal Jordan as Air Force pilot to the sound of "Danger Zone" we are introduced to Carl father of Carol Ferris Hal's romantic interest, he invites her to dinner, at Hal's house he talks to his friend Thomas who finally called her to go out but he doesn't know what to do, Thomas plays with his friend and teaches him about etiquette so Hal doesn't embarrass himself, on the night of the date Hal sees a ship crashing on a nearby beach, he goes there to see if there is anyone injured. and finds Abin Sur mortally wounded, he says that the ring had taken him to earth and chosen Hal Jordan as his successor, confused Jordan does not want to accept the ring, Abin Sur says he needs to prove that his willpower will make him worthy to be a Green Lantern, when he is taken to OA and leaves Carol waiting for him, the flashback is interrupted by a call for help on Rann, so Hal and John go there when they get there the Red Lantern Corps attack but Hal and John manage to stop they then Bleez attacks John while Hal saves the innocents of Rann when he is surprised by Atrocitus who at first talks with Hal saying that he knows Jordan's sin and that he knows that he feels a lot of anger at what he did, when Dex-Starr appears from behind of Jordan and uses a blast of blood on him, making Hal feel a lot of self-hatred, Atrocitus approaches telling him to succumb to hatred for him to be a Red Lantern, and a red ring goes towards Hal, who begins to do what I swore Green Lanterns chant, "In the brightest day, in the darkest night, No evil will escape my presence,Everyone who worships evil will suffer, When the power of the GREEN LANTERN confronts." and a huge explosion of blast happens destroying the red ring and throwing Dex-Starr away and Hal says yes Atrocitus is right, Hal really hates himself for what he did but his Willpower is greater than hatred, Bleez is thrown to the spot John appears and Atrocitus runs away saying that this is not over and that the guardians have paid for their sins, Arriving in OA, John asks Hal what would be the Guardians' sin, Hal says that knowing the Guardians they wouldn't tell him, but he knows a person who should know, in OA they go to a dark dungeon when John sees a dark cell, and eyes with yellow gleams coming towards him, that's when he plays a sinister theme, and Sinestro appears laughing saying that Jordan must be desperate to go ask for his help, John says that he always thought that Sinestro was a legend, Sinestro says that he didn't was wrong, Jordan says that Sinestro was one of the best Green Lanterns, but he was corrupted by the power of fear, Sinestro says that soon John will also be corrupted because he is very afraid, Hal asks about Atrocitus what Sinestro knows about him, he replies saying it's a long story and it starts thousands of years ago when the Guardians created the first force in the Galaxy the Manhunters they were androids programmed to bring peace and justice in the Galaxy but a mistake in its progamation caused them to decimate sector 666, leaving only five survivors, after this failure the Guardians discovered Ion a cosmic entity that feeds the central Battery of OA, and forged the first rings that sought worthy beings with willpower to being the first Green Lanterns, in sector 2814 the first was Yalan Gur a noble warrior, who fought against a tyrant being that would become known as Darkseid, when he tried to dominate the earth, after the death of Yalan, his ring was changing from being alive until reaching Abin Sur, Sinestro's mentor and friend who is considered the Greatest Green Lantern in history, this ring is now in the possession of Hal Jordan, which stains his memory, when he decimated a planet, John does not believe that Hal would have that courage, and Jordan says that yes he did decimate a planet once gripped by rage, when Sinestro betrayed the Hal troop and another Lantern went after him, their battle lasted three whole days, when Sinestro killed Hal's companion, taken by rage he shoots a blast of energy so powerful that Korungar destroys the planet of Sinestro, killing billions of people, Sinestro was captured but says he doesn't feel resentment towards Jordan since the people of Korungar were weak, John asks what happened to Atrocitus and Sinestro replies that what he knows is that Atrocitus was one of the survivors of sector 666 and he killed the other four survivors and from their blood he created the red ring and from there the Red Lantern Corps emerges

    • castingsinmyblood @otsutsuki OK, Hal's flashback kind of drags down the the pace of the story. You're also kind of falling into a lot of cliches in short order, so maybe change up the dialogue a little?

  • otsutsuki 3º Act- John and Hall leave and Sinestro screams saying that Jordan has blood on his hands, John says that it wasn't Hal's fault as he was overcome with rage and if he wants to make up for this mistake he must protect the Galaxy with all his strength, when the Troop is summoned Sayd says that Atrocitus and his army are attacking several sectors so the entire Green Lantern Corps leave for certain sectors less John who finds this suspicious, he convinces Hal, Kilowog, Tomar-Re and Arisia to remain in OA because Atrocitus will attack there, when Sayd and Ganthet are attacked by Dex-Starr the group splits and a cosmic battle begins, John fights Skallox, Bleez attacks Arisia, Atrocitus is face to face with Ganthet and Sayd and threatens to kill them when Hal Jordan and Sayd appear says that Atrocitus doesn't want that, he responds by saying that in sector 666 he was called Atros and his home planet Ryut was peaceful until the Manhunters decimated everyone including his wife and daughter (we see a flashback of this from destruction), in what was left of sector 666 he found the red drum that contained the Butcher as a cosmic entity giving the power of rage, in a gesture of revenge she kills her fellow survivors and uses their blood to forge a ring, when she encounters the central battery he says: "With blood and wrath of a burning red Plucked from a still warm corpse Added to our hatred that burns infernal Burning them all- Behold the final destination!" and from there he became Atrocitus the leader of the Red Lanterns (we also see this scene in flashbacks), he says that the Guardians took everything from him and that he will return the favor and attacks Hal who defends himself and begin to fight, Arisia and John put into practice what they were taught and defeat their opponents and go to help Hal who fights a well balanced battle with Atrocitus who is blinded by revenge, he pretends to attack Tomar-Re who is distracted with their battle but Hal enters the front of the attack, John and Arisia begin to protect the Guardians but are defeated by Atrocitus, until Kilowog arrives and fights melee with Atrocitus he gets along and manages to remove his ring, and C' hp holds him in chains, but with his physical strength to the extreme he frees himself and manages to recover his ring, Hal and John join together to defeat Atrocitus, and an epic battle begins in front of the Central Battery John takes advantage of a moment of carelessness of Atroci tus to strike him, Atrocitus begs for death, but John does not do it because he says that deep down Atrocitus is a good being, but that he is blinded by revenge, death would not be the end for him, Bleez emerges and flees with the seriously injured Atrocitus most of the Red Lantern Corps are arrested as the Green Lantern Corps emerge, Hal says he is proud of John and Arisia for their bravery, The Guardians warn John, Hal, Kilowog and Tomar- Re that Sinestro took advantage of the chaos to flee, Hal is worried and Kilowog says that they must be alert, The Guardians give a speech in front of the Lanterns congratulating Corp and warning of future dangers they end by saying "Willpower is the rudder that drives our life and makes us navigate in search of our dreams." and all the Lanterns raise their hands and a beam of light emerges on the screen. First Post-Credits Scene: We see an unknown Green Lantern being killed and having his soul being sucked out, before he dies he asks who this being is so diabolical and Larfleeze appears saying that Agent Orange will hunt down the Lanterns and take their powers and souls. Second Post-Credits Scene: Carol is on a beach watching the stars reading a letter left by Hal years ago apologizing for not going to dinner and that he loves her, she looks at the stars and sees a green light approaching him and appears Hal Jordan that after years he returns to earth and says that he and Carol are the ones who catch up with you, and she smiles and kisses him. Third Post-Credits Scene: We see a green energy field being broken and someone picking up a yellow ring, we see Sinestro putting his ring on and he looks at the camera and says it's time to go back to spreading "fear" in the Galaxy

    • castingsinmyblood @otsutsuki OK, so I can tell you worked on this, but you really need to focus up on the plot of this movie. It feels like every new scene there a different plotline and that can distract from story, themes, and characters that are really important. And you don't need three post credits scenes. Try to focus on one storyline and let the rest be.

  • misterwolf Generally positive; with praise for its visual effects, Balfe’s score, originality, acting and action sequences, but criticism for its derivative lack of plot and Baker’s needlessly complicated performance. But even so, it’s a great work. Keep it up.

  • themiscgeek Pretty good, but I personally would have Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan and Sinestro as Mark Strong (which would connect this to the 2011 movie) but Wayne T. Carr as John Stewart is fine. I would want this to connect to the 2011 movie cause Zack Snyder the man himself likes Ryan Reynolds and wanted the 2011 movie to be added to his universe. But cool story regardless

  • atreides007 It would be good to see a Green Lantern film of this magnitude, the story is interesting, but it would need a few settings, the cast could may be better for some characters, no serious complains about it. Notice the hard work, MTFBWY.
