Makoto Edamura is a modern-day, small-time con man in Japan. After a series of unfortunate events, he gets swindled by French gentleman thief Laurent Thierry into following him from Tokyo to Los Angeles. Along with fellow hustlers Abby and Cynthia, Laurent entangles Edamura in his various con schemes.
