A Cornish fisherman finds a message in a bottle washed up on the beach, begging for help. The writer claims his daughter is sick and needs help. The fisherman sets off on a grand adventure to meet the writer and help his daughter. After a journey around Europe and Africa, he finds the man in Senegal, but the daughter has died. The fisherman decides to set up a new fishing business there with the man's family, named after the late daughter Grace.
