The struggling heart. Bruce's first protégé and adopted son, a former circus acrobat who became Robin and then Nightwing. He fought with Bruce, left for Blüdhaven, and reconciled too late. Now he's the reluctant leader of a family in mourning, trying to fill a void no one can fill. His early attempts to lead like Bruce fail. Alfred tells him he doesn't need to be Batman—he needs to be Nightwing. His arc is learning to lead with warmth, empathy, and his own identity. He searches for ways to connect with Jason, who resists his too-eager overtures. When he finally relaxes and simply is himself, Jason responds.
