Many centuries ago, in a corner of the universe known as The Fourth World, the ancient gods destroyed themselves in a Ragnarok and their planet was split in two, giving rise to a new race of gods, the peaceful inhabitants of New Genesis, a planet led by Highfather, and the inhabitants of Apokolips, a planet ruled with an iron fist by the tyrant Darkseid.
