Vanessa is Michael's younger sister. When they were younger, he used to bully her both at school and at home. But after Michael pushed his bullying on his brother Evan too far and was the unintentional cause of his death, he and Vanessa set aside their past differences and it was there that they truly became friends, with Vanessa even giving Michael some advice on proposing to his girlfriend Abigail, saying that he should go with whatever his heart desired for their future.
