Story Plot

The story takes on the filming and post release of the hit documentary “Paris is Burning” where Jennie Livingston met two boys who showed her the ballroom scene. She started exploring the scene more and that sparked her interest to film the documentary. We would see how she befriended the members of the houses in the ballroom scene and the post release. After the movie was released, it got great critical reactions and the ballroom scene was shown to the world but there was controversy. The controversy was that Jennie was going to be hit with a lawsuit since the interviewees for the film weren’t paid. Dorian Corey and Willi Ninja were the only ones in the film who were paid which wasn’t fair to the others so several other people in the film retained an attorney and planned to sue for a share of the film's profits in 1991, but when their attorney saw they had all signed standard model releases generated by WNYC Television, they did not sue and accepted payment. Paris Dupree had planned to sue for $40 million. The story isn’t going to demonize anyone and will actually show Jennie and the main stars of PIB’s stories leading to where they all met up.
