Ten years after graduating from high school, former geeky, bullied-outcast James has managed to put his life together and reinvent himself somewhat for the better. Still, the trauma brought on by the pain and humiliation from his school years remains as he is invited back for a reunion, though reluctant to return, James eventually decides to go, hoping he can finally bring closure to his past pain. While he's there, he is suddenly reunited with the only person who was ever nice to him in high school, his beautiful and kindhearted former English teacher Emma Trevelyan, whom he had a massive crush on back then, and what starts as a rekindled casual friendship gradually evolves into an intense, scandalous relationship.
