Deep within a high-security lab, Reed Richards works with Hank Pym to decode Skrull physiology. Reed successfully engineers a non-invasive biometric scanner capable of detecting alien DNA without a blood sample. As Reed steps forward to test the device on his lab partner, Hank visibly panics. Sensing the tension, Reed attempts to soothe him, murmuring, "Hey, there's nothing to worry about, right?" Before the device can register the scan, Hank Pym fires a molecule destabilizer at Reed, stopping him and teleporting his unconscious puddle directly to the orbiting Skrull ship. Back on Earth, Human Torch and the Thing organize a search party with Sue Storm. Meanwhile, Doctor Doom observes the global chaos from Latveria. Having placed secret tracking devices on every member of the Fantastic Four, Doom easily finds Reed's location on the alien vessel and goes himself. Back in New York, Johnny and Ben grow suspicious of Sue. Her detached attitude toward her boyfriend's disappearance. The tension breaks when Johnny tests her, asking her to discard a vital piece of tech. When she complies, Johnny instantly covers her in flames. The blast reveals that Sue is a Skrull, and not just any Skrull: Queen Veranke. After, she summons a squad of Super-Skrulls to execute the heroes. Aboard the mothership, Doom dismantles the alien defenses using upgraded electrical tech, executing the guards and breaking Reed out of his stasis pod. Catching a weakened Reed as he falls, the bitter rivals are forced to fight together. Fighting side-by-side to clear the cockpit, they insult each other the whole time. They also explore what destroyed their friendship in the first place. They secure the ship and navigate back to Earth. Back on Earth, Johnny and Ben defeat the Super-Skrulls, though Queen Veranke narrowly escapes. They then turn to a nearby TV monitor just a President Kilgore's broadcast cuts through the airwaves, cementing the alien occupation.
