The story follows Ellis, an overachieving high school senior from Manhattan who is forced to relocate to Bramble Falls, Connecticut, with her mother after her parents separate. Living in a quaint, tight-knit town that goes all-out for autumn, Ellis reluctantly helps out with local fall festivities to boost her college application resume. Amidst the preparations for the annual Falling Leaves Festival, she reconnects with her former childhood best friend and first kiss, Cooper Barnett, with whom she had a falling out years prior.
