In 1996, the script to Ghosts of Mars originally started off as a potential Snake Plissken sequel.[35][36] Entitled Escape from Mars, the story would have been largely much the same; however, after Escape from L.A. failed to make much money at the box office, the studio did not wish to make another Plissken movie.
