Description of Jonathan Osterman (Doctor Manhattan):

Jonathan Osterman was born in Germany on August 14th, 1929. After the dropping of the atomic bomb of Hiroshima, his father pushed him to study atomic science, instead of becoming a watchmaker. On August 20th, 1959, while working in atomic physics, he is vaporised in a freak accident. On November 22nd, months later, he reappears as a blue-skinned figure. He becomes a hero of the government, called Doctor Manhattan. He remains active for years, until he abandons Earth after the incident of November 3rd, 1985, where millions are killed in New York. He hasn't been seen since, some say he is creating new life in a distant galaxy, some say he lives on Mars and waits for the opportunity to return.
