Deena Jones (Angelica Hale) and Effie White (Skai Jackson) and Lorrell Robinson (Shanice Williams) Transform into the Dreamettes and when a determined manager Curtis Taylor Jr. (JD McCray) spots an Act at the Talent Show he offers a chance of a lifetime to be Backup singers for a national star (Philip Solomon). Taylor takes creative control of the group and eventually pushes the singers into the spotlight. However, one becomes the star, forcing another out, which teaches them about the high cost of fame
