Description of Susan Andrews:

Shown briefly in flashbacks. Susan is Sarah's mother, who like her fell pregnant out of wedlock and was forced into a shotgun marriage with Michael, Sarah's father. She fell into a depression after giving birth to Sarah, and ended up being a mostly neglectful parent as her mental illness got worse over the years. As the abuse got worse, she just shut down even more, to the point where she'd just sit quietly in the other room while Michael beat on Sarah. Sarah resents her mother for this and is determined not to end up like her.
