  • jakubduda Dr. Mark was a well-known and respected oncologist. One day, he was supposed to travel to an important conference in a distant city, where he was to receive an award for his work. The plane he was on had to make an emergency landing an hour after takeoff. So Dr. Mark borrowed a car to get to the conference on time. Shortly after he set off, the weather suddenly and violently changed and a storm began. The storm caused his signal to drop and his navigation system to fail, causing him to take a wrong turn and get lost. After driving for two hours, he realized that he was completely lost. He was hungry and exhausted, so he decided to spend the night somewhere. He reached a small house and, desperate, got out of the car and knocked on the door. A woman he didn’t know answered the door. He explained that he was lost and asked her to call him. The woman told him that she didn’t have a phone, but that he could wait at her place until the weather improved and then continue on his journey. The hungry, tired, and soaked doctor accepted the offer and went into the house. The woman offered him some hot tea and went off to pray. The doctor smiled and told her that he only believed in himself and what he could do with his own hard work. He sat at the table, drinking tea, and watched the woman praying by the candlelight by the bed. Realizing that she must need help when she was praying, he asked her, “What are you asking God for? Do you think He will hear your request?” The woman smiled sadly and said, “That baby in the crib is my little son, who has a rare type of cancer and there is only one doctor who can help him, but I don’t have the money for treatment.” This doctor lives far away and God still hasn’t answered my prayer, but I know that He will definitely help me and nothing will destroy my faith in Him and His help. This doctor who can cure my little boy is called Mark and he is a renowned oncologist.” Dr. Mark, stunned and speechless, burst into tears. He whispered, “God is so great, He has heard your prayer.” He thought back over everything that had happened today and how he had come to see this woman. He realized that everything that had happened to him: the plane crash, the storm, getting lost, not only meant that God had heard the woman’s prayer, but also gave him a chance to understand that money and material things are not everything and that it is important to help people. Helping those who, from the world’s perspective, are poor, unhappy, and have nothing but their faith in God and prayer…
