Rupert Ludlow hated Richard Swift with a passion after his cousins were killed by him in self defense. He and Swift had been rivals and battled many times. He was an archer who found ways to level the playing field with Swift. He found that his twin sister Maugerite had fallen in love with his nemesis and that the couple were going to elope! He charged the bridge ready to kill Swift when suddenly Maugerite is hit by a bullet! He had never fired a shot. In his state of shock he ran away and then found his family was dying day by day.
