Percy Jackson thinks he is just a highly troubled juvenile delinquent, but when his pre-algebra teacher, Mrs. Dodds, turns into a vicious monster called a Fury right in front of him, he learns there is much more to this world and to his life than he once knew. Now he is taken by his best friend Grover (who is a Satyr) to Camp Half-Blood, a safe haven for those who are half-god, half-mortal. Percy learns that he is the son of Poseidon (the Olympian Sea god), and that he is the prime suspect in the theft of Zeus's main weapon, the Masterbolt, and that war is brewing on Olympus. Joined by his friends Grover and Annabeth (daughter of Athena), Percy must go and find the Masterbolt before the Summer Solstice and prevent war from coming to both Olympus, and the mortal world.
