The Disney Cinematic Universe (DCU) is an American media franchise and shared universe centered on a series of Disney films produced by Disney Studios. The films are based on characters that appear in Walt Disney Animation Studios published by Walt Disney himself. The franchise also includes television series. The shared universe, much like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was established by crossing over common plot elements, settings, cast, and characters.
