Shawjamon is one of Xiangpengmon's disciples, and serves as something of a rival to the heroes as her team aims to stop Meicrackmon to earn favor with Huanglongmon. He was said to have once been a ferocious troublemaker until Xiangpengmon quelled his destructive urges using the necklace it placed on Shawjamon's neck. Feeling sympathy for him, Xiangpengmon took Shawjamon as one of its disciples and set him on the straight and narrow, so he's mainly doing this to pay back his mentor for its kindness.
