Sentinel robots hunting for metamutants killed Jubilation Lee's parents, forcing the young metamutant to take safety in New Gotham's biggest mall. Jubilation walked into a trap set for Dark Claw, who had been attacked, injured, and was at risk of dying if he would not escape his captors in the mall's deep sub-basement caves. Thanks to Jubilation's metamutant powers, the wounded Dark Claw eventually managed to escape. Logan Wayne adopted the young girl after being impressed by her attitude and abilities. Dark Claw insisted on her using the name "Sparrow" instead of Jubilation's preferred name, "Death Urge Overdrive."
