Ritchie Falconer was the captain of his college wrestling team and a straight-A student. Ritchie found life to be quite simple because of his power and knowledge, and he was unhappy. A man who introduced himself as a former superhero approached him. The man proposed to provide Ritchie with a suit of high-tech arcane armor that was also powered by the magic of the serpent god Quetzalcoatl. Ritchie took the chance and rose to the rank of Protek, not realizing that the malevolent Green Skull had secretly manufactured his armor as part of a clever plan.
