When Clutch was finally arrested, Mimic was getting away when the Diamond Cutters battled him one more time and finally got the best of him. Whisper held Mimic by the neck, who was too weak to move. She wanted so much to take Mimic's dagger and shove it through his black heart, but the entire series revolved around a lesson in knowing revenge is not always the answer. So, she let him go, grabbed his knife, and gave him a scar on his eye. He can still see with both, but the scar stays. Whisper says "That . . . was mercy."
