Shadow the Hedgehog is an ultimate lifeform created by Gerald Robotnik with the DNA of a classified alien species known as the Black Arms. He spent his entire life on the ARK with his only joy: Maria. But when G.U.N. deemed him a threat, they invaded the ARK and tried to capture Shadow. Maria died saving Shadow, and it struck him hard. Eventually, G.U.N. found Shadow and put him on Prison Island where he remained for 50 years. Eggman promised revenge for Maria's death. Eventually, he and Sonic reconcile for Longclaw's death and team up to stop Eggman from destroying Mobius. After the battle, Shadow uses his powers to revive Longclaw and now keeps to Maria's promise to protect Earth.
