In the film, Peter Parker ventures out to save the city from a mysterious reptilian foe. To catch it, he seeks the advice of the imprisoned Norman Osborn. Kraven the Hunter hunts down Spider-Man, defeats him, and seemingly shoots him to death. Kraven then buries him, and attempts to prove himself superior at his adversary's former activities. While spending time roaming New York and brutally attacking criminals, Kraven culminates his crusade with the successful unarmed capture of The Lizard. After two weeks, Spider-Man revives from the effects of Kraven's tranquilizer dart and digs his way out of the grave. When Spider-Man confronts Kraven, the hunter does not fight back, considering himself the victor and his final point made. Kraven then releases Lizard, who attacks and is able to defeat Spider-Man, but Kraven intervenes before Lizard can kill him. He allows Lizard to go free, and tells Spider-Man he can pursue him if he desires, but that Kraven's hunting days have ended. Kraven reminisces about his past and the peace he now feels, and attempts suicide with a rifle but Spider-Man turns him over to the police. Spider-Man catches up with Lizard and lures him to Oscorp Tower, where Black Cat creates an antidote cloud, which Peter eventually disperses, restoring Connors to normal. In the end, Peter goes home with Felicia while it is implied in the mid-credits scene that Osborn had been behind Kraven's attacks.
