While in prison, Fisk makes an acquaintance out of his inmate one cell over, a man named Benjamin Poindexter. Through some bargaining and light threatening, the two form a mutual partnership: Poindexter ensures Fisk's protection, while Fisk grants him exclusive perks. Outside the prison, The Owl, in a last-ditch attempt to seize the power that Fisk still has over the underworld, sends a vengeful Elektra to assassinate him. The compound is in chaos, Fisk desperately trying to escape from everyone who wants him dead, and Poindexter makes the impossible shot: piercing the assassin's heart with a lockpick from across the courtyard. Elektra dies in the arms of a mourning Daredevil.
