Fan Casting Daredevil: Born Again (2007)

The Kingpin has the IRS freeze Murdock's accounts, the bank foreclose on his apartment, and a police lieutenant testify that he saw Murdock pay a witness to perjure himself. Nelson saves Murdock from a prison sentence, though he is barred from practicing law. His initial plan foiled, the Kingpin has Murdock's apartment firebombed. Murdock confronts the Kingpin in his office and is brutally beaten. The unconscious Murdock is strapped into a taxi cab, which is then pushed into the East River. Murdock regains consciousness and swims to safety. There he is found and nursed back to health by his mother Maggie who has become a nun at a local Catholic church. The Kingpin arranges for Nuke to dress up as Daredevil but Nuke rebels. Murdock, who has been shadowing Urich since hearing of the articles he is writing on the Kingpin, defeats the imposter and leaves him for the authorities. Nuke offers to testify against the Kingpin in exchange for a reduced sentence, but he is killed. Having failed to draw Murdock out of hiding, the Kingpin orders Gladiator to destroy the diner where Murdock works. Appearing as Daredevil for the first time since his apartment was destroyed, he is left with no choice but to kill Gladiator. However, Gladiator survives the attack and names the Kingpin as being behind the assault on Hell's Kitchen, setting off a wave of lawsuits. Daredevil systematically destroys the Kingpin's reputation and worldly possessions, winning back his attorney's license.
