Occupation: Patient at Hawthorne Behavioral Center Amber’s grew up in an affluent suburban family. Her father was a successful financial executive who traveled frequently, while her mother devoted most of her attention to Amber’s older brother. She learned early that dramatic emotional reactions were one of the few ways she could reliably receive attention. Her adult relationships repeatedly became intense and unstable. Following a particularly destructive breakup and subsequent emotional crisis, Amber entered Hawthorne as a voluntary patient.
