Suffering a head trauma after being pushed out of a plane by his mother with a parachute and his little brother Alex, Scott struck his head on a rock(which would cause him not to be able to shut off his optic beams) recovered and taken to the hospital Scott awoke 8 month's later finding out that his brother was adopted because they didn't know when he would awake, shortly adopted after an incident in his home town that ended up nearly killing people caused Scott to flee, 10 years on the run he stumbled into Jack O'Diamonds who taught him how to use and control his powers while also using him for his own gameread more
