In 1954, six strangers arrive by ominous invitation at a secluded New England mansion, despite most of the guests being from the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Greeted by Wadsworth the butler, each guest receives a pseudonym. Wadsworth explains to them that their "host", Mr. Boddy, is the one who has been blackmailing them for years.
