In 1976, three years after "The Exorcist" sent the world into religious hysteria, Vietnam War veteran Father Ewell Wham is losing his faith. He's become somewhat of a performance artist- appeasing families with quick, sham rituals to 'exorcise' what he never believes is ever actually supernatural. When he's called by a fellow priest to exorcise a wealthy Manhattan resident, his doubts about his priesthood are flipped on their head, having found something truly other-worldly about Sybil Godgifu.
