An epic tone poem about the Vietnam War as an experience in following a ragtag group of service men as they are move from the nightmare of Basic Training through to combat on the front lines, being sold out by one of their own to become prisoners of Hỏa Lò Prison (the Hanoi Hilton) and a girl Vietcong soldier who helped them escape. Together, the four escapees and their rescuer survive the jungles of North and South Vietnam in trying to make their way back to their own lines while hunting the Phantom Blooper that is slaughtering American and Vietnamese forces alike before memorializing their rescuer in fighting for peace back home in the United States.
