Condemned to the memory of a glorious past, the island of Melniboné is today an empire in crisis, consumed by cruelty and sadism. Its emperor, the somber Elric, a thin, albino young man with red eyes, does not represent the typical honorable and determined hero, but a tragic ruler, cursed by the prophecy that he will be responsible for the fall of his homeland. Faced with this, his merciless cousin Yrkoon takes advantage of the chaotic atmosphere to commit treason, aiming to seize the throne. But Elric, a sovereign tormented by doubt and guilt, may prove to be the most ruthless anti-hero ever seen.
