Yet, faced with the peril of death hanging over them, Nord and Dragonstone united under the same banner. The Empire grew from the Storm and the Conflans freed from the clutches of Harren. Together, they rekindled hope in peoples who had been invaded or defeated for years. Together, they fought for a future without war, commerce and opportunity. Despite terrible setbacks, the military situation in the Federated Kingdoms recovered and within months their union enabled them to overthrow the overwhelming power of Harren the Black, who died in battle and his capital destroyed. The Empire had just become the most powerful entity on the continent.
