    • user_23555 @mr_funcaster People don't care at all and it's sad. I see the same thing in several Talia al Ghul casts too.

    • nathanbates @mr_funcaster okay, this is an interesting aspect of BR2049 that I’ve thought of since I first saw the movie. The way the casting, let’s say, maneuvers on race. Casting a Latina actress feels like such a calculated move for a character with so much superficial Japanese coding. And since she’s a hologram, it’s implied she’s only Latina because K customized her so. I came out of this with the impression that the only stipulation for casting Joi is that she should not be played by an Asian actress, being that that would the most problematic outcome possible.

    • mr_funcaster @nathanbates but even after his joi was destroyed, the "advert" or "demo" joi he comes across is still ana de armas. and why would using asian more problematic than whitewashing?
